Matthew Athey
Integrative therapist
I’m a queer gay man who offers online therapy. Everyone’s story is different, but no matter our past or present situation we all deserve to be at ease with our feelings and to live life as fully as possible. I aim to provide a down to earth relationship where you can experience and understand your emotions in a healthy, supportive way. Ultimately supporting you to make the changes you want to see in your life.
Areas of Expertise
Online integrative therapy, LGBTQ+ people, depression, anxiety, change, family issues, relationship issues, men's issues, gender relationship and sexuality difference.
I am an integrative therapist working through online video counselling. I work in a non-judgmental, supportive and down to earth way. I am happy to adapt how I work to ensure you feel supported while exploring your issues and experiencing change. I can provide time and space for you to think about your life and what you want out of it.

I am interested in how our past can affect our present experience and relationships. And how our ways of coping with life and emotions may no longer be helping in the present. I believe that therapy can help us experience our emotions and feelings in a way that is based in reality, leading to a more fulfilling experience of everyday life.

I am a therapist because I believe that everyone should experience good mental health, no matter your identity, your history or life experience. I work to be sensitive to all differences LGBTQ/GRSD individuals may experience including the limitations they may feel because of discrimination. My counselling experience was built working with a community organisation providing accessible counselling for LGBTQ/GRSD people.
